Wonderful news as our movie “Green Rush”, has been picked up by Lionsgate for US distribution, with an April 2020 release. John is an Exec producer and voice actor in the thriller, which is set in a Marijuana farm.

John was honored to take the lead role in Allen Barton’s new play “Circling” at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. It ran to March 15th 2020, closing on the first day of lockdown. Based on the true story of Dr Jeffrey Piehler, it is a deeply dramatic, darkly funny exploration of mortality.

John had fun on Jimmy Kimmel Live! playing Guillermo’s posh, saxophone playing English Butler.

Rave reviews for “Bakersfield Mist” sell out production at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. “John Mawson does an excellent job of embodying the superior Lionel Percy while at the same time revealing the man’s humanity and desperation… a wonderful sense of movement between the two characters.“ – The Tolucan Times.

On the 22nd May 2019 John was honoured to attend his US Naturalization Ceremony and receive his certificate of US Citizenship.

John is very pleased to have been awarded Second Prize in the Annual Fade In Screenwriting Awards for his feature screenplay based on an extraordinary true story from WW2. FadeIn Awards: 2nd Prize: “The San Demetrio”

Here’s “6 Years, 4 Months & 23 Days” John’s award winning short film, winner at the Phoenix and San Jose Film Festivals and accepted for consideration by BAFTA.

Huge congratulations to the wonderful Kim Estes (the crash prone driver “Vincent” in “Masters of the House”) who won an Emmy for Actor in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series. 

John played the funeral director in Episode 2:11 of the Hulu original TV Series “Casual”.

John had a great time playing the lead role of William Gillette (Sherlock Holmes) in the Theatre Palisades production of Ken Ludwig’s hilarious whodunit thriller “The Game’s Afoot; or Holmes for The Holidays.” Directed by Gene Franklin Smith. It picked up seven awards at the Annual Theatre Palisades Awards ceremony, including best play, best director.
